How does a Non anesthetic dental scaling work?
First, we gently swaddle your pet to ensure it feels safe ( how you would swaddle a baby) Then, we conduct an oral examination to see the severity of your pets overall oral health and condition.
If your dog or cat has a small amount of tartar, the veterinarian or technician doesn’t find any deep pockets during the initial exam, and the pet is friendly (aka cooperative) then your dog or cat will benefit from non-anesthetic dental cleanings!
We begin the dental scaling by removing the plaque and calculus on your pet’s teeth. We further clean the bacteria under the gum line and finish by polishing, wiping, and rinsing the mouth.
Our non-anesthetic dentals help reduce the risk of bacterial infections such as periodontal disease, which adversely affects your pet’s overall health, causing chronic pain, gum inflammation and, in severe cases, bone loss and organ failure.
How often should my pet have an oral examination?
To avoid these health risks, your pet should have a deep dental cleaning every 6 months.
